Maps and assets
Maps are zoomable campaign reference images. They are not a tactical VTT grid.
Adding a map
Create a map record from the Maps section, then upload an image from the map detail page. The app stores originals privately and returns short-lived signed URLs for authorized viewers.
What maps are good for
- Region, city, district, dungeon, spaceship, or relationship maps.
- Player handouts and scene reference images.
- Clue boards, letters, diagrams, or other visual props.
- Location context that players can zoom without needing a VTT.
Asset safety
Map files and character PDFs are private campaign assets. Players only receive URLs for assets attached to records they can see.
Visibility and sharing
A map follows the visibility of its campaign record. Keep it GM only while it contains unrevealed labels or hidden areas. Switch it to Players after the table earns the reference. Use Selected players for character-specific maps, visions, or clues.
Not a battle grid
Maps are reference images. The app does not manage tokens, fog of war, tactical movement, line of sight, initiative, or encounter automation in the core product.
